I loved this book! The science behind the neuroparacites and the black rocks was interesting and made sense. I also liked how the relationship between the characters developed and evolved. I just wish the MFC could focus a little more on the plot rather than THIRSTING OVER HER PROFESSOR!!!!

The Kingmaker's Daughter

This book follows the 2 daughters of the man who was responsible for people seated on the throne of England in the 1400's. It follows the 2 girls through their lives and does a beautiful job of following their changing view of the position of Queen from their childhood until their death. It is a wonderful, albeit at times a grim, look at the life of powerful women during that time period.

This is one of those books you can read more than once because there is a lot going on and there are parts of it I still am not clear on. An investigator is hired to check on large payments that were made by the client’s late aunt. The investigation uncovers more than initially suspected and reveals a well-crafted web of deceit. A good book but I feel like I missed some things.

I loved this book—captivating, emotional, and beautifully written. The characters felt real, and the story kept me hooked. The ending left me heartbroken, though. We don’t always get the happy ending we want or deserve, and this book is a powerful reminder of that.

Excellent book. I almost put it down after a few pages, but I persevered and am glad I did. Very well written, interesting novel. Expats from Jamaica in England whose lives intersect and secrets are unraveled as the book progresses. Twists and turns I did not see coming. Looking forward to the next book by this author.

Enjoyed this book. Rock and Roll combined with sibling fighting and competition. The end was satisfying.

Dead Sleep

In this story about women who go missing and then have their dead images appear in paintings, Isles does an excellent job in developing the characters and their connections to one another. And this is important because the subject matter here is often harsh and without this development of characters, it would simply be a brutal story. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time and liked the ending.

Found it interesting her story went back-and-forth between German high school teacher and young Jewish bakery in small town. What was their connection was the high school teacher a Nazi story unfolds

Very short, well written book. Told in the 1st person narrative, British soldier returns to England after WWI, works as an art restorer in a small country village's church. Thought provoking, insightful.
